About

Rita Conde, self-taught painter. Acrylic, watercolour and oil on canvas and paper.

Large formats and crooked lines

I am a self-taught painter. I began in photography and moved to canvas during the pandemic. I work mostly in abstraction.

A large-format acrylic canvas being painted on the living-room floor.

I began with acrylic on canvas. More recently I have added watercolour and oil, and I also work in mixed technique — gold leaf and silver leaf on canvas, oil pastel on paper. The larger canvases I paint on the living-room floor.

When I travel, the colours change and I find other emotions in them.

Work in mixed technique, with gold leaf on canvas.

I have shown seven times, in solo and group exhibitions, in Lisboa and Ericeira. There is work of mine in private collections.

The main room of the «Porque Sim!» exhibition in Ericeira, with acrylics on canvas on the walls.

The example of Vieira da Silva, and more recently the calligraphic work of Fernando Lemos in Japan, are notes I keep.
